BAR COLLECTION
Choosing the right glass for the drink you are serving matters more than you might initially think. The shape, size and height of the glass are important to the temperature, aroma, flavour and overall experience of the drink. It is therefore important to consider carefully which glass is most suitable for the drink being served. In the list below we suggest which types of glasses your bar collection should include.
BAR COLLECTION
Tumblers, also known as whisky, lowball or old-fashioned glasses, have a low profile, a thick base and a wide opening so that the bouquet of the drink, its various scents and aromas, can rise easily to the nose. The glasses are not very large and are used mainly for drinks that are either served neat or contain just a few ingredients. They are perfect if you enjoy whisky on the rocks or whisky drinks, like a Negroni, Whisky Sour or a classic Old Fashioned.
DRINK SUGGESTIONS
20 ml Gin
20 ml Campari
20 ml Red Vermouth
1 slice of orange or a twist of orange peel
Pour the ingredients into a mixing glass with lots of ice and stir well. Pour into a tumbler with ice and garnish with an orange slice or a twist of orange peel.

The highball glass is a larger version of the tumbler. It is a tall, straight, narrow glass perfect for drinks served with ice and topped with lashings of soda water, juice or mixers. They are often popular with bartenders as the drinks can be built straight in the glass. The highball makes a stylish choice for serving timeless classics like Mojitos, Tom Collins and G&Ts.
DRINK SUGGESTIONS
60 ml Gin
30 ml Lemon juice
10-15 ml Sugar syrup
Lemon slice or twist of lemon peel
1-2 drops of Angostura bitters (optional)
Pour the gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake well. Then strain into a highball glass filled with ice, and add soda water to taste. Garnish with a slice of lemon or twist of lemon peel. You can also add a few drops of Angostura bitters on top.

Cocktail glasses come in a range of sizes, and are either coupe or V-shaped. They usually have a long stem, and there is a good reason for this. They are the preferred glass for drinks that are served without ice, as the stem distances the bowl from your warm hand, so the drink stays cool longer. The shape of the bowl is also very important. It allows for the aromas of the drink to be concentrated and the nose to come close to the cocktail as you are drinking so you can better appreciate all the fragrances and flavours.
DRINK SUGGESTIONS
40 ml Vodka/lemon vodka
40 ml Cranberry juice
20 ml Triple Sec or Cointreau
15 ml Lime juice
Orange zest
Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with lots of ice and shake well. Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with orange zest.
